Konnichiwa minna-san! (Hello everyone!) Welcome to the official webpage for the summer missions team to Japan from Independent Bible Church. Here you will find our posts throughout the trip (which are below this introduction), and various updates on our ministry once it begins.

We will be serving God in Japan from July 11 to August 10, 2005, working with Asian Access/LIFE Ministries at Kaminoyama Bible Church. Japan is a fascinating nation filled with wonderful, intelligent people, but sadly, Christianity makes up only 1/2 of 1% of the religious atmosphere. It is a nation lost in worldly religion and one that desperately needs Christ.

If you would like to support us through prayer (which is much needed), please email us at japan2004@aveiceae.com. Thank you kindly and God bless!

My very good friend from Texas, Brian, who also went to Japan last summer, died in a car accident yesterday while driving to the airport to pick me up. I was supposed to be visiting him this weekend, but instead I'm mourning him.

more to follow :(

...Rest in peace, my dear, wonderful friend...

you can see comments from last year's teams (including ones by Jeri and myself) on the Asian Access website here. They also posted a picture of us. It's cool to see just how much going to Japan impacted us all - it wasn't just God using us to witness to the Japanese people, but God using the experience to change our lives as well.

UPDATE

We will now be going to Japan from June 27 to July 27. Both Asian Access and the church in Kaminoyama agreed that would work out fine, to allow Maureen to make the trip...

For reasons I can't reveal quite yet....

But regardless, that is exciting! And means we will be leaving 2 weeks earlier than before. Time to really push on that fundraising!!

Keep us in your prayers!

Quick facts...
> In Japan, rice is more expensive than it is in the US.

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.
