Konnichiwa minna-san! (Hello everyone!) Welcome to the official webpage for the summer missions team to Japan from Independent Bible Church. Here you will find our posts throughout the trip (which are below this introduction), and various updates on our ministry once it begins.
We will be serving God in Japan from July 11 to August 10, 2005, working with Asian Access/LIFE Ministries at Kaminoyama Bible Church. Japan is a fascinating nation filled with wonderful, intelligent people, but sadly, Christianity makes up only 1/2 of 1% of the religious atmosphere. It is a nation lost in worldly religion and one that desperately needs Christ.
If you would like to support us through prayer (which is much needed), please email us at japan2004@aveiceae.com. Thank you kindly and God bless!

"team" "photos"
posted by: court
Being unable to actually take team photos at this time (as Jeri is in Canada), I scoured the photo archives from last year in Japan and posted a few that only have the 3 of us in them. It was actually hard to find photos with me, Maureen, and Jeri that didn't have Laurel in them! Out of the 1400 photos I think the ones I posted were the only ones I found, haha.
Fundraising will be starting soon...

Team Leader Retreat: cool
posted by: court
Returned from the TL Retreat late last night having been refreshed and encouraged, and very much uplifted and focused toward this summer. It looks like this is the last year of Summer Teams as we know it for Asian Access, and our team, the IBC team in particular, is part of the guinea pig testing phase of the next version of the Summer Teams program, since we are returning to the same church. In the future, Asian Access will be stepping back in their role and allowing the Japanese and American churches more direct contact and control over the summer teams, hoping to build relationships between churches. As our team is returning to Kaminoyama, we are kind of the first wave of that sort of summer team. Interesting, and exciting!
Here's me and the other 2005 Summer Team Leaders:

Click the picture for a slightly bigger version.
So the steam starts to build and the ideas start to flow.... please stay in prayer for us and the church in Kaminoyama! The big fundraising push is about to start....

I'm all alone...

well, this is me. I am still in Canada (gotta love the prairies!) at pretty much the best bible college. God is preparing my heart for this summer, which is always wonderful. Please pray for me because the distance seperates me and my team, but God is greater than any distance. still, communication and other stuff is hard. Also, schoolwork, it would be awesome to get it done early so that I will have more time to work on other things (like praparing for this summer). Oh yeah, here is an important one, Pray that God is Lord over my heart, and that I continue to yeild to Him always. That is a good pray for the other girls, too. Pray that God is the head of our team. Pray for the people we will reach, the old freindships as well as the new. Don't forget to pray about the spiritual warfare we will experience along the way, That Satan will be bound by Jesus Christ, and that we will cling to God through out the mission (as well as the rest of our lives). Thank you so much for all of your support. Prayer is the easiest to do and best effective way to help us out (but money and encouragent help almost as much...j/k). well, it is late, and i most likely have homework to do... Thanks again.

Pray for our Hearts!
posted by: maureen
Hello! Courtney, Jeri, and I all need your prayers as we get ready for another year of missions work in Kaminoyama, Japan. We are excited that God has chosen us for this opportunity to show his Glory! My biggest prayer for myself and my team is for our hearts to be fully alive and perpared to show God's love to those who will help us in prayer, finaclally, but espesically for the Japanese people. I want to have such a close amazing walk with the God of the universe that his love just shines and pours out of me. I have had a tough year since returning to Japan 2004, and I want to thank the Lord for all of it. That through this time of trials he is always constantly holding my hand. So pease, if you feel lead, pray for the heart's of my team and the heart's of our friends in Japan, along with the new people we will get to meet. In Christ, Maureen

Yep... we're going back! Japan ni ikimasu!

So, here is our official Japan 2005 website. What? you say it looks exactly like the 2004 website?
...yes, that is true, but why mess with a good thing? hahaha. Myself, Maureen, and JEri will be returning to the church in Kaminoyama this summer (Lord willing) to continue the ministries and relationships we began last summer. We are so excited about this and are looking forward to this awesome opportunity to go back and serve these amazing people.
Sadly, Laurel will not be among us - God has different plans for her and she will be pursuing that according to His will. Ganbatte Laurel, we'll miss you this summer! :)
Soon to come: upcoming fundraisers, new team photos, and the like. Yosh!
