Coming up in this entry: quick sum-up of church, rotating sushi place, fireworks!

10:57pm

- Got up at 6:30, went bike riding w/ Jeri and Laurel, saw people working down on the riverside - looked like they were clearing brush and bundling it up

- Sang yankee doodle songs for the 4th of July (though techically still the 3rd back in the US)

-Rode our bikes to church :) church was cool, we sang "I'll Fly Away" and "Father I Adore you" and Jeri & Moe gave their testimonies... afterward they gave Moe flowers because it's her birthday tomorrow! :)

-Went to a rotating sushi restaurant!! :) It was really busy so we had to wait a little while with mouths salivating. It was most delicious. Laurel and Jeri got adventurous and tried cow tongue and horse meat (augh! video)... I found cool sushi lollipops and ate waaay too much unagi and tamago :>

-Went to a clothes store and found a lot of funny shirts with "engrish" on them

-Went to a big 100-yen store (like a dollar store in the states but with actual cool/quality stuff)... we were there for awhile x_X

-Walked to the Kamin, got food, Jeri and I took some sticker pics (purikura)

-at 7pm Mr Yoshida picked us up; we went to the church to meet up with a few other folks and walked to the riverside, then lit off a ton of hanabi (fireworks! fireworks! fireworks!) w/ some of the middle school boys, Ito-sensei and his wife, and Noriko. They have these cool little hand-held hanabi that are like mini balls of fire

-Afterward had snacks at the church (including squid chips!) and talked a little bit about ourselves, went back home, and had a short team meeting.

Bedtime!

Quick facts...
> In Japan, rice is more expensive than it is in the US.

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.
