Coming up in this entry: feelin' queasy, a run in with the law, English classes!

10:03pm

Today we got up and checked on the kitties, and saw Denise off at the station (she said visiting us was like a vacation!). Laurel, Jeri and I went on a bike ride and stopped at one of the foot onsens where I began to feel slightly queasy. Started to ride again and I felt like I was about to hurl and pulled off to the side to crouch down... sat for a few minutes with insides in a whirl and saw L & J ride by looking for me. Staggered back to the house and Laurel got me a bowl and a cold towel, and I hovered on the couch while we had our meeting. I was still feeling pretty crappy afterward so I stayed home while they went to the daycare.

I dozed off for a bit and after about half an hour a cute policeman came to the door with helmet and blue uniform on :) He asked if I understood Japanese and I said "Wakarimasen." He kinda laughed and spoke broken English/Japanese - he asked to see my passport and read it slowly ("Court...to...ney... kotoni?") and told me "safety..." if there was trouble, to call, and "policeman... will come" (with his arms pumping like a running guy). Heh, it was cute. So I had a nice semi-chat with him and then he said "arigato gozaimashita," saluted, hopped on his scooter and rode by about 3 times (checking out the neighborhood?)

Laurel and Moe came back around 1:30 with orange juice and a FrogStyle for me :) They said the kids were asking about me and Noriko was worried because apparantly a virus has been going around. I drank about 3/4 of the carton of OJ and got ready for afternoon classes. We checked on the kittens and fed them milk and cat food and played with them for a bit; they made a big mess with the food so we washed them, then went to the Aoki's for Elementary classes.

My class with Jeri was fun; we played the Alphabet game w/Masahiro and Ms Aoki before the 2 girls got there, and once they did we reviewed animals and played Pictionary, which they got a kick out of. We had a HUGE dinner with the Aoki's; then Moe and Jeri left and Laurel and I set up for our Jr High class, which was slightly rough (the last practice was especially confusing) but went well overall. We ripped though chapter 2 pretty quickly.

Then Laurel and I rode home and hung out a bit with everyone listening to Veggie Tales songs, then I showered and here I am.

Time for some Bible reading - still in Job.

Laurel's blog post from this day: (here)
"So everything has been really awesome here, but in the last week this one thing has stuck out in particular. I gave my testimony about what God has been doing in my life lately, part of which is volunteering at CareNet. Afterwards our pastors wife came up and started talking with us all about it. There is nothing at all like CareNet in Japan. Like the U.S. abortion rates are high, but ublike the U.S., adoption is uncommon here. If a girl here becomes pregnant while still in school, culturally she has very few options. So Tammy, and all the ladies at the CareNet in Port Angeles and Sequim, please start praying about this, this is a huge missions field. I know that is a burden on my heart, and i hope that as knowledge about this is spread God will burden the hearts of others in prayer also. It is good to be here, and we are incredibly blessed, thank you to everyone who has been praying for us and has supported us. God is so faithful."

Quick facts...
> In Japan, rice is more expensive than it is in the US.

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.

Reading...
"Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, 'Sword, go through that land'..."
--Ezekiel 14:17, NKJV (just a funny verse :D)

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."
--John 8:36, NKJV
