Coming up in this entry: fun times with Noriko-mama at a huge mall

10:02pm

Today we got up late and bummed about; Noriko2 picked us up @ 10:30 and we went to her friend's house in Yamagata for lunch and talked to all of the ladies for awhile. She then drove us to a HUGE mall (passing KFC and Col Sanders on the way). We made a beeline for Toys R Us, then wandered through a ton of clothes stores. Noriko2 bought us all some traditional Japanese things from one boutique (saying she was our Japanese mama) and we all took purikura in a way cool photo booth thing. Moe bought a $120 ukulele at a music store where we also saw a hilariously cute Ovation ukulele. We saw a bunch of other funny things too, some weird shirts and etc and even ads with Brad Pitt in them (won't see that in the US!)

We went back to Noriko-mama's for dinner (cold soba - which we became extremely fond of) after which she took us home. Shortly thereafter Ito-sensei stopped by to return the money we'd left on his desk for our copious internet usage.... so after he left we decided to put it in next Sunday's offering at church.

Now we've sat around looking at our new FrogStyle frogs (they're in little coin toy machines everywhere and you can find a lot of different ones) and listening to ukulele.

I almost forgot we gave Noriko-mama one of our Japanese/English Bibles - we all signed it in the front :)

We had a little meeting, and it started raining again...

we have class tomorrow and also a calligraphy class we'll be visiting.

11:27pm.. Laurel says she's interested in talking to folks back home about CareNEt/abortion education/adoption over here.. which is really cool.

Maureen's blog post from this day: (here)
"Hey all, check out some of our pictures we finally got on the website. There are so many more and we have been doing ministry also even though the picture just look like we are just having fun. Well the ministry is alot of fun also, okay nevermind. Our first week of teaching English went well. We have alot of students (more than Kaminoyama has ever had before!) and teaching has been a blast! We have been helping out in the mornings tues throught thurs at the churches day care and that has been such a blessing for all of us. We have all been sharing our testimonies with the church and various people. Thank you for all of your prayers, and they are working because we are starting to see fruit here in Kaminnoyama! In Him, Maureen"

New! Guestbook!

Quick facts...
> In Japan, rice is more expensive than it is in the US.

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.

Reading...
"Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, 'Sword, go through that land'..."
--Ezekiel 14:17, NKJV (just a funny verse :D)

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."
--John 8:36, NKJV
