Coming up in this entry: a big oops!, dreams, a sudden storm (and close call with lightning!), crazy Japanese TV

7:48am

A box came the other day, delivered to the door, and the delivery guy said it was "a gift" and I signed for it. We opened it up and it was full of little cakes/bread things. Needless to say, we ate the whole delicious box in 2 days.

Yesterday Mieko-san came over to give us the rest of our trip money and said "if a box comes tomorrow or the day after from Tokyo, leave it here - a gift." Moe and I looked at each other like "uh-oh..." The writing on the box was all in Japanese and the delivery guy said nothing about Tokyo or who it was for, so either 1.) we ate her things!! or 2.) another box will come today or tomorrow...

Couple nights ago I had some action-movie type dream where a lady was being chased after collecting $100 bundles for some reason... everyone tried to take the money and then the cops were after her and it culminated in a shootout in downtown PA or somewhere... weird.

10:15pm

We had a short team meeting this morning and then went on a bike ride (all 4 of us) after one of the ladies from last night dropped off some yummy onigiri around 8:30am. Ito-sensei picked us up around noonish and we went to Uta-san's house to have sushi (including the dreaded NATTO which was hidden amongst the rest) and talk about the upcoming BBQ on the 24th - they want us to cook and give testimonies. They also mentioned they'd like us to do Bible stories after the junior high English classes... good opportunities maybe?

After we got back from Uta-san's we had planned to go to the pool but around 3:30 a gigantic thunder/lightning/rainstorm started that would last till around 8 or 9. We all ran to the upstairs room and watched the ran pour down and the lightning split the sky (all purple and pink.. never seen anything like it) and the thunder crack right above our heads. (video) After a little while we heard a weird song playing off in the distance which got closer and closer until we could see it was coming from a slowly-moving truck that was alternately blasting the weird song and playing some kind of recorded message (video)... we had NO idea what it was about (we found out later it was some kind of campaign thing for a political candidate)

we went outside and walked/splashed around a bit until lightning struck a phone pole right above our heads near the river :S

After that we watched some Japanese TV (including a game show where a guy tried to see how many shirts he could get on before one ripped - he got on 70 (!!) and walked around town scaring people and swinging [and falling off]) and also a game show where one of the hosts was "Vic Romano" from MXC, heh.

Then we talked for awhile, ate cake, and bummed about for the rest of the night..

Actually turned off the AC today!

New! Guestbook!

Quick facts...
> In Japan, rice is more expensive than it is in the US.

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.

Reading...
"Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, 'Sword, go through that land'..."
--Ezekiel 14:17, NKJV (just a funny verse :D)

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."
--John 8:36, NKJV
