Coming up in this entry: quick sum-up of pottery fun, river walking, and storminess.

7:23am JST

Slept in a little late this morning, heh. Can't start going to bed late or I won't want to get up at all.

10:24pm JST

Today Jeri and I walked to the bike shop with Mieko to start figuring out our transportation situation for the summer, then Moe and I walked to the post office (the long way) and had a fun time trying to communicate to them what we were after. We disovered later the post office is RIGHT behind our house...

Ito-sensei picked us up around 1pm and we drove to Yamagata city (about 20-30 min away) to the coolest pottery place ever (in a beautiful garden) to watch the pottery folks make pots, and then got the opportunity to clumsily make pots of our own on small hand-spun wheels. It is definitly not as easy as it looks! My resulting pottery was somewhat pathetic, heh. They told us they would glaze our creations and send them to us within a week or so. We wandered around for a bit peering out the windows and then went back to the house (after Ito-sensei took us to a phone booth to show us how to call home if we needed to)

Then we walked to the Kamin for lunch and went down by the river, walking across the big concrete slabs to chill for awhile on the other side. After going to Save-on to get candy we played cards (which Jeri won) and watched a lightning storm from the upstairs window.

Probably more to say but I'm tired and we have a busy day tomorrow...

Gnight for now!

> You can purchase hot coffee and cold milk from the same vending machine.

> Less than 1% of Japanese are Christians.
