Festival of the Arts is going on again.. I love it; it's one of my favorite times of the year. Yesterday, at one of the venues, Thom and I had the opportunity to swing dance for the first time in a long while. We went at it barefoot - he'd forgotten to bring shoes other than his thick clumping bike boots - and ripped up the dance floor like we hadn't in a long time. We did a couple of lifts ("Flingy-Around," Princess, and Airplane), and people gasped and clapped... threw out the Shag, the Charleston (several variations including the infamous Flying Charleston), the Lindy Hop, the Sprinkler, several things we forgot the name to, and basically a lot of fun improv. 'Twas great! Exhausting! And a heck of a lotta fun! :DWe were going to go to a tango class (!) that was being offered today, but the funds ran a little short (you pay one fee to get into ALL of the venues, regardless of how many you actually end up attending, and seeing as we only wanted to go to the tango class, it would have been a little hard on the wallet..) There's another swing band playing tomorrow, so I figure we'll just go to that instead. Maybe we'll even pull off the Straddle again.
Eyes are tired... I'm getting off the computer now. Oyasumi nasai..

So, I have been sticking to the "no pop (caffeine)" mantra pretty well. I haven't had a pop in a week. That doesn't mean I don't go to the store and salivate over one, though. I haven't noticed any significant changes in my mood/behavior/energy levels after cutting caffeine out of my diet cold turkey, either, which is either A.) cool or B.) unsettling. I also went to the local tanning beds and burned the heck out of myself... after 6 minutes. 6 MINUTES! I'm a weenie. They said they had brand-new supah light bulbs, but still... 6 minutes!? Laurel got a little pink too, but nothing like me... and she's a redhead! Notoriously bad at tanning! But no... it was all me, the flaming burn victim. But the bacne thing appears to be getting better... yeah! (watch me peel in two days... -_-)

Somehow, a frog has found his way into my neighbor's pond. Mind you, this is not a pond out in the middle of nowhere - this is a pond that he built in his backyard, so he could join a Koi (expensive fish) club. This is a pond in a residental neighborhood. And it has a new occupant.Every night... every blasted night without fail...
"CROAKCROAKCROAKCROAK
CROAKCROAKCROAKCROAK"I swear, this frog is looking for love. He wants a woman. He's crying his little froggy lungs out.
It's driving me nuts.

In a last desperate attempt to clear up the skin on my back before going to Thom's senior ball this saturday, I have drastically cut my normal diet, removing all of my favorite things... all of which have caffiene. Caffeine, I hear, is a huge contributor to "unclean" skin. So that means no pop, no chocolate, no fun stuff. And I'm drinking only water... 32 fl. ounces a day... trying to clear myself up from the inside. (Do you know how much I HATE water??) As well, I'm taking the advice of some who say you should rinse your hair out before you wash your back, because runoff from your hair causes "bacne."I'm also going tanning for only the 2nd time in my entire life, as I have pasty white flesh that is happy the way it is, and tends to protest efforts to the contrary by turning bright flaming lobster red.
So. We shall see.

I am really digging the CSS stylin' over at Joopy. That is so cool. I need to learn more CSS... though it is not exactly supported by Netscape. :PNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ... That sucked so bad. I have followed horse racing since 1989... and have only picked the Derby winner twice (Real Quiet and Fusaichi Pegasus)... and once again, this was not my year... in fact... the horse I almost least wanted to win won! Argh....
I usually go for this guy's horses. (Not the guy in the picture; the guy the article's about)
This is really cool.

Good day. Realized over the weekend that nothing dental bothers me anymore (after 9 months as a dental assistant) when Thom's mom jokingly started to hand me the dental floss she had just used and I actually reached out for it. I touch stuff like that all the time, people. ('Course I usually have gloves on when I'm doing so, but the mind doesn't connect those things sometimes.) And I no longer have any sympathy for people getting shots, seeing as I watch 16 people receive up to 32 pokes with a needle every week. Sorry, man - no sympathy. I am no longer squeamish with extractions, either - the one thing that used to make me stare at the walls. ("I am not looking at the blood squirt, I am not watching that flap of gums in a sea of redness...") OK, so sometimes it's still pretty nasty. But overall, I'm OK with it now. The really bad ones are the old crusty guys who come in with like 3 months of plaque on their teeth because they never, ever bother to even lift their toothbrush. uuuggghhhhh... I shudder at the mere suggestion of it.Happily, most people actually brush, and hence most people's teeth/mouths do not bother me at all.
Oh, and I know you hear this all the time and pass it off with an "eh" because you figure it's the industry trying to make you buy another useless product, but take this one for real: FLOSS, people. Please. Trust me, as the "girlie who's seen it all," you wouldn't believe how much of a positive impact flossing has on your dental future. Want to avoid receding gums and loosey-goosey teeth when you're 50? FLOSS. Want to avoid nasty in-between-the-teeth cavities? (very common!) FLOSS. Thank you. :D
(now for something completely different...)
Ahh... new design. I am pretty proud of this one. Of course it's nothing like some of the big boys use, filled with CSS and DHTML and sweet javascript tricks everywhere... but I like it. (Got the "up-down" script here if you're curious.) It just kind of evolved in Photoshop as I played with it; I never really had any sort of idea where I was going.
Things going well with Thommy-boy. He will either be off to Wheaton College or .. Brazil in the fall. Yes Brazil... he may take a year off school and go join some missionaries from our church. Both options are quite far away. :( And if he goes to Wheaton, he'll miss my 22nd birthday in August. :C
;_;
Ah well. Guess I should get used to disappointment. :P But we are doing so good! Very much in love... I can't believe it's coming up on three years since we met. Wowza. (July 5!) And it just gets better as we get to know each other more and more, and get closer to each other. I love being his girl.
Bed is beckoning.
